More about me: My Other Blogs
Back in August 2010, I decided I wanted to make a blog about my goals. Sort of a perpetual "Before and After." I called it "Living Up" because I wanted to document my path of moving up the ladder of my own potential. I wrote: "Through my life I have seen endless examples of things I'd like to be able to do or characteristics I'd like to have, women who I'd "like to be". I put that last bit in quotes because my point here isn't actually to become any of those women. They are them and I am me and I wouldn't trade lives with anyone of them for a second. But I would like to take this opportunity to dig out those things which I have the capacity inside me to do."
So, the blog actually started out with some comparisons to people I wanted to be like. But then that didn't feel right, so I sat down and thought more about what my goals actually are and realized that the picture in my head really doesn't have anything to do with comparing myself to other women. The picture in my head is me. The me I will be in 20 years or more. The me who has developed some of her talents and who still struggles with others. The me that has grown children and has been setting an example all those years for them to follow as they start their own families. I see that woman in my head and she is awesome. She has taken the example of so many other great women (and men) and worked hard to stretch to her potential. So this blog is about me trying to find a way to live up to her. My dreams and that picture in my head. Me, living up to me.
